Pixar President Outlines Toy Story 4

When the announcement was made that there would soon be a Toy Story 4 in production, many fans of the franchise expressed deep dismay at the perceived unnecessary gamble with the legacy of what might just be one of the most perfect trilogies ever to grace a cinema screen. Vocal dissenters argued that Toy Story 3 was an enviable ending that simply could not be bettered. Regardless, Toy Story 4 has continued its way to realisation, but now, Pixar President, Jim Morris, has given some broad details to Disney Latino – translated by /Film.

Regardless, Toy Story 4 has continued its way to realization. But now, Pixar President Jim Morris has given some broad details to Disney Latino (translated by /Film).

“The third movie ended in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy. I think this movie is not part of this trilogy. It is a separate story, which in turn, I do not know if [it] will be continued. Never begin a project with that in mind.

“It is not a continuation of the end of Toy Story 3. Temporarily, it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put too much emphasis on the interaction between the characters and the children. I think it will be a very good movie.

“The decision to make a second or third [instalment] entirely depends on how passionate the director of the project is.”

The director of the project is Pixar legend John Lasseter, which is good news for Toy Story fans. Lasseter co-wrote and directed Toy Story, co-wrote and co-directed Toy Story 2, and co-wrote Toy Story 3. If anyone knows their lasers from their pull-strings, it’s John Lasseter. More good news comes in the assurance that fellow Toy Story scripting veterans Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich are also credited with creating the Toy Story 4 tale. The script itself is reportedly being written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (Celeste And Jesse Forever).

With Tom Hanks and Tim Allen said to be reprising their roles as Woody the Cowboy and Buzz Lightyear, respectively, Toy Story 4 is scheduled for release on June 16th 2017.
