Since announcing that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U would be released in 2015, during last December’s Video Game Awards, producer Eiji Aonuma and his team have had a change of heart. As such, the game will no longer be releasing this year and will not appear at E3 2015, to the disappointment of many.
In a short video that recently hit the Internet, Aonuma speaks directly to fans as to why it is that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will not meet its originally intended release window. During it, he explains that while the team has been working its collective butt off to deliver a fantastic product, they’ve also found ways to create something that will be even better than they originally intended. So, in order to make those improvements, enhancements and additions, they’ve decided to move away from a 2015 release.
With the Nintendo NX having been the subject of many recent headlines, it makes us wonder if The Legend of Zelda for Wii U may end up appearing on its console’s successor as well. Only time will tell, though.
