What if the six-mile wide asteroid that careered into Earth millennia ago simply went down as a near-miss, inadvertently saving the dinosaurs from mass extinction and preventing the creation of the famous Chicxulub crater? It’s an fascinating slice of revisionist history, and one that will underpin Pixar’s all-new animation, The Good Dinosaur.
After surviving through near-extinction events of its own, events that witnessed director Bob Peterson be removed from the project and the titular dinosaurs, Arlo, be completely reimagined, the new IP is preparing for its debut later this year with a first-look teaser. Undercutting the calamitous asteroid impact from the get-go – a group of dinosaurs watch as the benign satellite whizzes by – the footage is more a showcase of the film’s visual style over story, offering up a look at a whole host of colorful behemoths that will be roaming onto the silver screen later this year.
With Peter Sohn now behind the lens in Peterson’s steed, The Good Dinosaur will feature the likes of John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer and Lucas Neff.
Arlo will set on his almighty journey when Pixar brings The Good Dinosaur into theaters in time for November 25, 2015. For now, you can share your early impressions of the first teaser using the comments section down below.
