Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Will Be Released For PS3/360

Unlike some of its peers, Activision's venerable Call of Duty franchise is fearful of alienating part of its fanbase by skipping last-gen consoles. As such, Call of Duty: Black Ops III will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Unlike some of its peers, Activision’s venerable Call of Duty franchise is fearful of alienating part of its fanbase by skipping last-gen consoles. As such, Call of Duty: Black Ops III will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

In order to make sure that Call of Duty: Black Ops III makes it to last-gen consoles without negatively impacting its current-gen presence, Activision has enlisted the help of both Beenox and Mercenary Technology. Together, the two studios will work on a gimped version of the blockbuster, which will do away with its big brother’s four-player cooperative campaign in favour of a more cozy, two-player experience. Other downgrades are also to be expected, although Activision is staying tight-lipped for now.

Going further, while the game will appear on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it will not support Nintendo’s struggling Wii U. On top of that, a next-gen/PC only beta will commence in the near future.

Stay tuned for more Call of Duty: Black Ops III news as we approach E3 2015.
