When EA opted to place the long-running Need for Speed franchise on a brief hiatus, forgoing an annual release for the first time in over a decade, it was almost inevitable that the publisher would pursue the route of a reboot for its return in 2015. And that’s exactly what happened. With Swedish dev Ghost Games behind the proverbial steering wheel, the all-new NFS is gearing up for its release on November 3 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Lifting the best parts of the series, Ghost Games has described the upcoming installment as the “definitive edition” of Need for Speed, mixing a variety of ways to play and a hoard of customization options.
Become the ultimate icon when Need for Speed returns November 3rd, 2015 on PS4, Xbox One and PC in an action driving experience that unites the culture of speed.
Built around real world icons are five action-packed overlapping stories. Every choice, every second and every minute propels your progression through the five ways to play; Speed, Build, Crew, Style and Outlaw.
One caveat of this new approach is the fact that Ghost Games’ overhaul means that Need for Speed will require an Internet connection in order to play, a move that will “allow your friends to be part of your narrative experience” and ultimately creating a more rewarding set-up.
Need for Speed will drift onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 3. Check back with We Got This Covered in the coming days when we’ll have more details about Ghost Games’ reboot as they break.
