As the Muppets continue to take over the show, Nintendo’s press conference theme of “transformation” made itself known on one of the company’s foundational franchises. You’ve had a Zelda game with 1 Link, you’ve had a Zelda game with 4 Links, but 3 Links?! Thanks to the newly announced The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, you and two friends will now be able to explore Hyrule as a gang big enough for a game of keep-away.
Bringing over the 3D visuals of A Link Between Worlds, the newly revealed title for 3DS will take the similarly dungeon-focused approach to gameplay that Four Swords had. But with the reduction in player count, cooperation, not competition is the order of the day, with players having to use the new Totem Mechanic to achieve greatness while standing on one another’s shoulders. Additionally, sartorial choices matter more than ever, as Links green, red, and blue will all have to make fashion decisions to acquire new abilities.
The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes will be coming Fall of this year. Check out the above reveal trailer to see the game’s debut, and below for its formal introduction by director Hirosmasa Shikata.
