Treyarch Set To Unveil Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Mode On The Eve Of San Diego Comic-Con

If there was ever a franchise to ape Hollywood's cinematic standards and bombastic, at times flabbergasting action, it's Activision's Call of Duty. So, what better time to reveal the retooled Zombies Mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops III than the opening day of San Diego Comic Con?

If there was ever a franchise to ape Hollywood’s cinematic standards and bombastic, at times flabbergasting action, it’s Activision’s Call of Duty. So, what better time to reveal the retooled Zombies Mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops III than the opening day of San Diego Comic Con?

That’s exactly what Treyarch is planning to do, after the developer took to Twitter to slate the worldwide reveal for July 9.

As the founding father of franchise’s ludicrously fun Zombies Mode – the undead add-on was included in World at War as a humble end game extra – there’s already a crackle of excitement emanating around the Call of Duty community ahead of the unveiling. Up until now, we’ve been treated to ample content from both Black Ops III’s multiplayer and single-player segments. Traditionally speaking, Activision would keep the co-operative component under wraps until closer to release, but Treyarch has since teased that the latest rendition of the undead mode is shaping up to be “mind-blowing.”

Given that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will go one step further than Advanced Warfare, it will drag the franchise into the year 2065, a full forty-five years after the events of Black Ops II. The studio’s vision of the future is terribly bleak; with the world’s military privy to biotechnology and genetic engineering, a whole new frontier of warfare has opened up. How exactly Treyarch plans to differentiate this soon-to-be-revealed Zombies Mode from Slegdehammer’s take on the blood-drenched material, but we’re excited to see what the creative team has been cooking up.

We’ll have full coverage of the Zombies Mode reveal as it happens. Call of Duty: Black Ops III will launch on November 6.
