Few artists have had the practically overnight success of Alesso. The Swedish progressive house prodigy has proven that he can straddle the line between pop and EDM with his releases over the past four years, and even after the widespread success of his debut album he continues to deliver.
Most recently, he’s offered up a remix of Maroon 5’s “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf****r,” a song which has already received considerable radio play. A unique rearrangement of the vocals puts Adam Levine’s verses through a more synthetic filter, and fist-pumping synth work gives it the main stage-friendly qualities necessary for it to make its rounds over the rest of the festival season.
Interestingly, both Levine and Alesso cite much of their music influences as deriving from rock music. The common ground appears to have led to a natural synthesis between both artists’ sounds, and we’re curious to see if they’ll pursue more involved collaborations as time goes by.
