The Witcher III: Wild Hunt To Forgo Free DLC This Week In Favor Of “Very Large” Patch

Since its release back in May, developer CD Projekt Red has steadily rolled out free DLC for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt with each new week, offering fans of the sprawling RPG access to new in-game items including armor, weaponry and even entirely new quests. That production line will shut up shop temporarily this week, though, with the studio primed to implement a "very large" patch that will make various improvements across the acclaimed threequel.

Since its release back in May, developer CD Projekt Red has steadily rolled out free DLC for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt with each new week, offering fans of the sprawling RPG access to new in-game items including armor, weaponry and even entirely new quests. That production line will shut up shop temporarily this week, though, with the studio primed to implement a “very large” patch that will make various improvements across the acclaimed threequel.

From a new item-stashing system to tweaking the responsiveness of Geralt’s movement, there are a myriad of changes bound for Wild Hunt, and you can check out the detailed list of what to expect down below. As for the patch notes, we can expect them to debut on CD Projekt Red’s blog later in the week.

  • A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
  • A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player’s map.
  • Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
  • Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
  • Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
  • Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be “pinned,” meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
  • Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
  • A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes, and general gameplay.
  • Various improvements to horse behavior.

While patches have typically debuted first on PC before making their way onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this latest update – patch 1.07 – is set to change that as the batch of fixes looks set to debut across all platforms simultaneously. As for the sixteenth – and indeed final – piece of free additional content, it’s understood that the content pack has been pushed until next week as CD Projekt Red currently has “all hands on deck” in order to ensure the patch is up to standard.

According to a Twitter user, this piece of free DLC will arrive in the form of an alternative costume for Ciri, though we’ll be sure to update you when we hear official word from the studio.
