DICE Trumpets Replay Value Of Single-Player Missions In Star Wars Battlefront

It was clear from the get-go that DICE, a studio well versed in the space of multiplayer shooters courtesy of Battlefield, wanted to double down on the online component within Star Wars Battlefront. Heck, the studio's General Manager Patrick Bach recently stated that a bona fide single-player mode was never on the cards for the galactic shooter. That said, the licensed title will offer solo play via the Missions gameplay mode, giving users the opportunity to play alongside bots and friends either online or off.

It was clear from the get-go that DICE, a studio well versed in the space of multiplayer shooters courtesy of Battlefield, wanted to double down on the online component within Star Wars Battlefront. Heck, the studio’s General Manager Patrick Bach recently stated that a bona fide single-player mode was never on the cards for the galactic shooter. That said, the licensed title will offer solo play via the Missions gameplay mode, giving users the opportunity to play alongside bots and friends either online or off.

Though some have questioned the substance of the Missions, Level Artist Daniel Cambrand has taken to Reddit to offer his own two cents on the mode, stating that they offer a high level of replay value.

Personally I have found the replay value to be very high. We have had an internal competition at the office where we battled over a case of beer, who would get the best time on the Tatooine Mission that was shown on E3, and we have been playing that Mission over and over and over. It is really fun, changing your tactics slightly every time and trying new ways, especially when you start to compare round time with your friends and colleagues.

It’s interesting to note Cambrand’s comments, particularly the way players will seemingly be able to compare and contrast their mission completion times with friends and strangers online.

A closed alpha test for Star Wars Battlefront is currently underway within the halls of publisher EA. Mind you, that hasn’t stopped various assets from escaping onto the interwebs, with a series of stunning screenshots making their way online late last week that showcase the game’s stunning recreation of Tatooine.

Star Wars Battlefront is poised to bring a galaxy far, far away to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
