Ahead of the anticipated Zombies reveal later today at San Diego Comic-Con, developer Treyarch has confirmed that the upcoming multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops III will deploy on August 19.
Arriving on PlayStation 4 first as per Activision’s new-fangled exclusivity deal with Sony, it’s unclear exactly when the testing will open up for other platforms. Given that the beta itself is expected to last for around two to three weeks, we expect that PS4 owners will enjoy a week-long headstart over Xbox and PC.

In an announcement that will surprise no one, the only means of accessing Call of Duty: Black Ops III is to pre-order or pre-purchase the shooter digitally, thereby gaining access to a code that you’ll be able to redeem via the official site.
Treyarch is yet to specify the content we can expect in next month’s multiplayer beta, but what we do know is that it will offer up our first tangible look at Black Ops III‘s Specialist classes, which will look to shake up the admittedly tired online formula with their set classes and abilities. Of all the game modes expected to be included in the final release, only Headquarters, Domination and the surefire Deathmatch have been confirmed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III will deploy for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on November 6.
