It looks like Sam Smith’s original prediction was right all along, after British songstress Ellie Goulding dropped a major hint that she is indeed performing the theme song for Sam Mendes’ upcoming Bond sequel, Spectre.

Originally, the award-winning Stay With Me artist was attached to the gig, though he quickly doused any rumors during a recent interview with Capital FM, stating that “it’s definitely not me. People seem to think I’m doing it but I have no idea what’s going on.” Shortly thereafter, Smith pointed to fellow English performer Ellie Goulding as the hot favorite, and a recent Instagram post from the singer herself appears to reaffirm – or at least strengthen – those unconfirmed allegations.

If Goulding does indeed land the gig for the hotly-anticipated Spectre, that would make it two-for-two with Bond films and English songwriters, following Adele’s rousing performance of Skyfall for Mendes’ eponymous feature. As a matter of fact, the Instagram post above arrives mere days after Goulding Tweeted out the phrase Live and Let Die, a famous Bond track from Guy Hamilton’s film of the same name. A coincidence? Or another tease leading up to the inevitable announcement?

It’s still too soon to tell whether Goulding will perform the theme song for Spectre, but we invite you to speculate with us using the comments section below.

In Spectre, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE. Sam Mendes returns to direct SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 for the fourth time. SPECTRE is produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, from a script by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade.
