Oh boy, has it been a rough weekend for Fox.
Fantastic Four released on Friday and with it came a storm of controversy. From poor reviews to stories of fights between director Josh Trank and the studio, there was certainly a lot of negative press.
One thing that definitely didn’t help the film was a Tweet that Trank sent out on Thursday night, which has since been deleted but read: “A year ago, I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You’ll probably never see. That’s reality though.”
[zerg]According to box office analysts, that one little message cost the film an estimated $10 million at the box office. And that’s only counting North America, not the rest of the world. While it’s not likely that Trank will face any legal ramifications for his comment, as there’s not really very much that anyone can do about it, he may have a tough time finding his next job, and I highly doubt that he’ll get handed a big budget project any time soon, if ever.
