E3 2015 heralded the first time in years that Square Enix hosted its own presentation on the show floor in Los Angeles, and it’s a testimony to the publisher’s jam-packed release slate. Three months later and the Japanese giant is prepping for a press event in its own native country, even releasing a teaser for the TGS 2015 showcase that hints at a “secret” announcement.
Due to take place later this month, Square is just one of a number of publishers that will take to the stage in Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe convention center. But what could the company be teasing? After a relatively strong E3 showing – which heralded the famous Final Fantasy VII Remake reveal and more information regarding Kingdom Hearts III – it’s difficult to gauge what Square Enix has up its proverbial sleeve. Could it be confirmation that the publisher will push ahead with a sequel to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD? Time will tell.
In terms of the sure-fire attendees, however, fans of the esteemed Japanese publisher can look forward to presentations of Avalanche’s open-world threequel Just Cause 3, Dragon Quest Builders and arguably the biggest title of the bunch, Final Fantasy XV. Square has repeatedly stated that the anticipated JRPG sequel will arrive in 2016, which would makeĀ it exactly one decade since the title was originally unveiled as Versus XIII all those years ago.
Tokyo Game Show will run from September 17 to September 20. Stay tuned when we’ll be bringing you information pertaining to Square Enix‘s livestream, including when it’ll take place and where you can find it, very soon indeed
