Leaked footage from Captain America: Civil War‘s D23 trailer revealed that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will be on Team Cap in the highly anticipated 2016 movie. However, just because we now know the sides each of the heroes has chosen doesn’t mean that the plot of the first Phase 3 movie is any less secretive.
Unsurprisingly, in a recent interview, the actress wasn’t willing to reveal too much about what we should expect, but she did shed some light on how the film will differ from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“I was only there for five weeks of it, but we were all super stoked about it… Even though the Ultron robots are so intensely human because of its mind, we’re actually dealing with humans this time through and through. There’s nothing scarier than something that’s like you being dangerous, so I think it’s darker and it’s fun. It’s really fun—it was so hard to shoot, but I think it’s gonna be a really interesting film.”
Surprisingly, we’re not the only ones who have been left in the dark about how Captain America: Civil War will play out, as Olsen confirmed that not even she knows how the movie is going to end.
“I’m excited to see how they’re gonna end it. I wanna see what the ending shots look like because I wanna know what the ellipses is at the end of the film (laughs).”
It’s likely that Marvel only gave the actors script pages for the scenes they’re involved with in a bid to avoid any major plot leaks, especially if the movie wraps up in the same shocking way that the comic book version of Civil War did. When talk turned to Olsen’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and specifically the two-part Avengers: Infinity War), she would only say:
“Those are things I would like to know too (laughs). Those are things I have a group of people with me right now that would like to know too.”
Unless she’s killed off in Captain America: Civil War, chances are that we will indeed see the return of Scarlet Witch in Phase 3’s sure to be epic finale.
