The third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally going to embrace superpowers, as Agent Coulson and Daisy Johnson/Quake look to assemble the Secret Warriors. The team of Inhumans won’t just be battling their own kind though, as it sounds like Asgardians will once again factor into the Marvel and ABC series.
However, rather than an enemy, this member of Thor’s race – who won’t be Jaimie Alexander’s Sif (she’s busy starring in Blindspot) – sounds like he’ll be an ally in the quest to discover where exactly Simmons vanished to at the end of season two.
Here’s the official synopsis courtesy of ABC:
“Purpose in the Machine” – Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s third season is shaping up to be very interesting indeed, especially with both Simmons’ fate and the introduction of May’s father taking centre stage here. Whether the show will be able to regain the viewers it’s lost since premiering in 2013 remains to be seen, but the Captain America: Civil War tie-in episodes should be fun to see play out and draw in some more eyes.
