I have to admit, the new and improved relationship between Activision and Sony is still strange to me. The blossoming love affair has been the force behind E3 showings, acclaimed beta testing and now, a brand new console, as the powerhouse publisher announced today that a limited edition Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 branded PlayStation 4 will hit stores in November.
Taking the traditional black PS4 and adding some splashes of color, the Black Ops 3 console is a sleek looking piece of hardware. Sporting striking streaks of orange, as well as orange-tinged power and eject buttons, the console is a perfect compliment to the upcoming title. The grey DualShock 4 features the same blasts of orange, as well as the logo for the game on the right-side of the controller.
In addition to the fact that the limited edition console comes with the title and a voucher for the NUK3TOWN multiplayer map, the biggest feature of the system lies underneath the hood. Instead of the traditional 500 GB hard drive, the console comes packed with a massive 1 TB hard drive. With double the size of the basic PS4, newcomers to the system won’t have to worry about storage space (at least for now) if they choose to pick this up.
If you couldn’t tell from my praising of the system, I’m a sucker for limited edition consoles, and this one is no exception. Of course, what I’m really interested in, though, is that 1 TB hard drive. As someone who has already had the juggle what games I have installed on my console, I could have really used the extra space. However, I’m also broke, so moving from one PS4 to another will just have to wait for now.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 limited edition PS4 will launch across the United States and Europe on November 6, and will carry a cost of $499.
