From the producers of The King’s Speech comes this big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, a story about Scottish General Macbeth (Michael Fassbender) and his ambitious wife (Marion Cotillard), who urges him to use wicked means in order to gain power of the throne over the sitting king.
There’s been a lot of positive buzz surrounding this release (which is set to reach a select number of theaters on December 4th in the US), and a new featurette has surfaced today which includes interviews with the cast and director Justin Kurzel as they shed some light on what we should expect from Macbeth. However, even more exciting than that is the fact that we get to see some stunning new footage from the movie, which truly does look fantastic.
Here’s the synopsis for those of you unfamiliar with the classic play:
Macbeth is the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire. A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic realities of the times and a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of literature’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war torn Scotland.
If Shakespeare isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Kurzel is currently shooting a big screen adaptation of video game series Assassin’s Creed, which will reunite Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Macbeth, meanwhile, will be with us in December.
