Keen to keep the momentum building after yesterday’s poster debut and slew of impressive images, Legendary has unveiled an all-too-brief teaser for Duncan Jones’ live-action Warcraft: The Beginning movie in anticipation of the full trailer going live on Friday.
Hinting at the mighty clash between the Alliance and the Horde, today’s clip is the first official sizzle reel to come out of the studio’s CG-laden blockbuster, which is wrapping up its extensive post-production and VFX process. It’s one that – at least based on a 15-second sting – has paid off dividends, with sweeping action shots showcasing the scale and scope of Jones’ rendition of Azeroth.
[zerg]Based on Blizzard’s legendary, genre-defining IP, Warcraft: The Beginning is reportedly being nurtured into a franchise at the studio, though such talk of a sequel will no doubt hinge on the critical and commercial success of next year’s blockbuster. Look closely at today’s trailer, however, and you’ll be able to spot some locations from the MMO itself, such as the sprawling vistas of Westfall and Stormwind, while a Gryphon is seen soaring between the mountains.
In terms of cast, Jones has recruited quite the ensemble for the ambitious feature, including Robert Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar and Toby Kebbel as Durotan, Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Daniel Wu as Gul’Dan and Paula Patton’s Garona.
Warcraft: The Beginning launches into theaters on June 10, 2016.
