Closing out the three-part Woman Vs. Wild video series, Crystal Dynamics has today unveiled an all-new gameplay featurette for its soon-to-be-released sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider, showcasing a Lara Croft beginning to reach the height of her abilities.
After shedding light on the survival skills and diverse combat tactics featured in the action-adventure follow-up, the studio’s new video shifts gears to focus on some of the new systems to be introduced in Rise, including tweaked environmental puzzles, previews challenge tombs and a handful of the ancient abilities that can be unlocked by completing those daring tasks.
[zergpaid]Having acted as a pillar of the Tomb Raider franchise since its inception, it’s within the dark and dank caverns of Syria, Siberia and many other locations where players will stumble upon various artefacts, dusty old relics and ways in which to level up Lara’s skill tree. In doing so, Rise of the Tomb Raider is very much harkening back to the series’ prestigious roots, and we’re excited to see whether Crystal Dynamics can side-step the infamous second album syndrome when the sequel releases next week.
Though many thought that Crystal Dynamics and Microsoft would blink, Rise of the Tomb Raider will go toe-to-toe with Fallout 4 when it launches across Xbox platforms on November 10. There, it will enjoy a year-long console exclusivity on Microsoft’s systems, before making the jump to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in November of 2016.
