At long last, Mojang’s sandbox juggernaut Minecraft will launch for Nintendo’s Wii U, after the Japanese giant confirmed that the port will hit the home console on December 17 packing a raft of add-on content.
Priced at $29.99, the Big N noted that Minecraft Wii U Edition will make use of the hardware’s GamePad peripheral to feature off-screen play, while Mojang – now owned by Microsoft – hinted at plans for Nintendo-themed content to roll out further down the line. Expect the developer to take full advantage of the publisher’s decorated vault of characters, then.
[zerggaming]As for those add-ons in question, Nintendo confirmed that Wii U owners can look forward to:
Battle & Beasts Skin Pack
Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack
Natural Texture Pack
City Texture Pack
Fantasy Texture Pack
Festive Mash-up Pack
That’s the content that will be bundled into the base game and included in the aforementioned price tag, though for those of you who want to expand Minecraft Wii U edition, Nintendo will host 16 additional content packs on the eShop upon launch. Welcoming the global phenomenon to the platform, Nintendo of America’s President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime released the following statement.
“With so many included add-on content packs, Minecraft: Wii U Edition brings an exciting collection of Minecraft content and experiences to Nintendo fans. Wii U players will have plenty of reasons to keep coming back to this iconic gaming experience.”
Minecraft Wii U Edition will launch for Nintendo’s home console on December 17, and it’ll be available for $29.99.
