Frank Underwood and Doug Stamper, long-time friends and literal partners in crime, take center stage in the ominous new teaser for House of Cards season 4, which sees the former dig up a secret or two (at least the clip is implying) in front of a party of onlookers and would-be backers.
Retaining much of the dour tone from last week’s snippet, things aren’t exactly looking bright and breezy for the current President of the United States. In fact, it’s by no means conclusive but it seems today’s new teaser is harkening back to Frank’s ancestral history with the South Carolina regiment, or it could possibly be the site on which Rachel Brosnahan’s old flame left Doug for dead. Alas, we’ll have to wait and see.
Though they’ve had their personal clashes throughout the course of Underwood’s career in the White House, season 4 of Netflix’s acclaimed political thriller looks poised to bring Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and Stamper (Michael Kelly) closer together than ever before, an innate reliance made all the more apparent by the conspicuous absence of the First Lady, Claire (Robin Wright).
That’s right, the once-ironclad marriage between Claire and Francis was left in tatters at the tail-end of season 3, and with the Underwood 2016 presidential campaign beginning to reach its crescendo, it’ll be fascinating to see how Beau Willimon, David Fincher and the remainder of the crew align a potential career victory with a personal downfall.
Netflix is primed to debut all 13 episodes of House of Cards season 4 come March 4, 2016.
