Production on James Franco’s starry depiction of The Disaster Artist continues apace today, with the actor-director taking a break from filming to confirm that for the very first time, all three of the Franco brothers will star in the same feature film.
Based on the eponymous novel by Tom Bissell and Greg Sestero, James Franco’s latest directorial effort tells the story behind the creation of Tommy Wiseau’s The Room in 2003, widely regarded to be one of the most diabolical films ever committed to celluloid. Since then, Wiseau’s eccentric movie has become something of a cult classic, and the eldest Franco is clearly dreaming big ahead of The Disaster Artist.
Headlining the picture as Tommy Wiseau, James Franco will co-star alongside Dave Franco (21 Jump Street) and now Tom Franco (Basket Case 2, The Devil Wars a Toupee), who has been added to the ensemble in an undisclosed role. Bringing together all of the siblings, here’s James Franco’s official Instagram post commemorating the occasion.
But don’t be fooled into thinking that The Disaster Artist is fast becoming the Franco show. Since enterting active development, James Franco has filled out the casting sheet with a whole host of talent including Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Ari Graynor, Andrew Santino, Zac Efron, Kate Upton, Josh Hutcherson, Hannibal Burress, Sharon Stone, Jacki Weaver and, more recently, Trumbo star Bryan Cranston.
The Disaster Room is expected to make its bow in theaters at some point later this year.
