Final Super Smash Bros. DLC Characters Releasing Wednesday

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS have seen a healthy amount of downloadable additions, from formerly absent returning fighters, characters completely new to the series, additional accessories to customize Mii Fighters, and several new stages to battle on. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS have seen a healthy amount of downloadable additions, from formerly absent returning fighters, characters completely new to the series, additional accessories to customize Mii Fighters, and several new stages to battle on. Now, the stream of new content for the 2014 fighters is about to end in a big way, with the final two new fighters set to simultaneously launch across both games on Wednesday, February 3 in North America and February 4 in Europe.

Both Corrin, the lead character of Fire Emblem Fates, and Bayonetta, from her self-titled action games, will be made available, along with costumes for the customizable Mii Fighters based off of characters from games like Sonic the Hedgehog and WarioWare. Bayonetta will also come bundled with the new Umbra Clock Tower stage. As always, characters can be bought on either the Wii U or 3DS, with the option to pay slightly more for access to both versions.

Corrin and Bayonetta will bring the total roster of playable fighters to a whopping 58 characters, leaving no shortage of choices for Nintendo fans. Bayonetta will make use of her various weapons and hair-based abilities, while Corrin will stand out from other Fire Emblem fighters by utilizing his ability to transform into a dragon for certain moves. Male and female versions of Corrin will also be selectable to represent the extensive character customization in Fates.

While this may mark the end of new content for the game, there’s no doubt it will have some longevity, especially since the 15-year-old Super Smash Bros. Melee still sees tons of competitive play. And with recent rumors of a re-release for the Wii U version on Nintendo’s secretive new NX console, there’s always the possibility that Super Smash Bros. has some more surprises in the near future.
