Maddie, Nick, Travis make a beeline for the Pacific coast in today’s first teaser for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead season 2, confirming the spinoff series for a return on April 11.
That’s perhaps a lot sooner than many fans anticipated, bearing in mind that the inaugural season didn’t make its bow until late August last year. Indeed, if you’re hoping for much of a respite to process what will surely be a barnstorming finale to The Walking Dead season 6 – pegged for April 3 – we’re sorry to report that AMC is primed to executive a one-two punch of undead goodness.
When we left Fear the Walking Dead late last year, Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis) and their extended family had taken up residence in Strand’s (Colman Domingo). There’s some fleeting signs to Strand’s safe haven in today’s teaser, too, though fans needn’t worry that the show will turn its back on Los Angeles now that the City of Angels has descended into a full-blown zombie apocalypse.
Having recently cast Dougray Scott in an unknown role, Fear the Walking Dead is now primed to shuffle onto the small screen once more come April 11. As for the core series, Rick Grimes and his band of survivors will return to AMC a little earlier for the remaining chunk of season 6 come February 14.
