Following a release on Windows PC and Mac back in August 2015, publisher tinyBuild Games has announced that they will be bringing Party Hard to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year. The “tongue-in-cheek” murder simulator was the winner of the Indie Prize’s Best In Show award last year.
Developed by the Ukrainian team at Pinokl Games, Party Hard is, despite the name, not about throwing a raging party. Quite the opposite, in fact, as you are more concerned with shutting down your neighbor’s noisy festivities. It’s too late in the night for the police to drag themselves out of bed, though, so you’ll need to take actions into your own hands. Using the loud music and bright lights of the party, you’ll silently take out all party-goers, and shut this thing down permanently.
Despite the grim premise, tinyBuild Games is promising that Party Hard is sillier than it seems. While you start off at a simple party, you’ll eventually move on to taking down gatherings taking place on everything from cruise ships to space ships. Each of the 19 included parties has their own unique characteristics, and with each environment being semi-procedural, no two parties are the same.
I have to admit, the idea of a party killing simulator did leave me feeling a little queasy. However, after reading the description of what the title entails (Bears in Sunglasses!) and seeing it in action, I understand that this really is a silly experience. And as someone who spent time in a college dorm, I can relate to wanting to shut up your noisy neighbors when it gets too late.
While no official release date has been announced, expect Party Hard to bring the good times to an end on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this spring.
