Showtime’s House of Lies is coming back for a fifth go-round this spring, and ahead of the season’s debut on April 10, the network has unveiled a predictably brisk, fast-talking trailer along with new key art.
According to Deadline, the upcoming season finds management consultant Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle) playing a very different kind of game than usual. This time around, “Marty is a man with a singular focus – ascending from millionaire mogul to global dominator. No longer content with fleecing big-money clients, he’s upping the stakes in a highly calculated winner-take-all power play that will land him and the Pod – Jeannie (Kristen Bell), Clyde (Ben Schwartz) and Doug (Josh Lawson) – in Cuba.”
Donis Leonard Jr and Glynn Turman are back for more big-business shenanigans, and the guest-star list this season reads like a who’s who of comedy figures, including Wanda Sykes, Keegan-Michael Key, Ken Marino, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, John Cho, Donald Faison, and Nicky Whelan.
House of Lies has never been one of Showtime’s most lauded, well-known series, but its distinctly dark and cynical tone has earned it a loyal – albeit small – following over the years.
Here’s the overarching synopsis for those of you who haven’t yet given the series a shot.
Charming, fast talking Marty Kaan and his crack team of management consultants know how to play the corporate game better than anyone, by using every dirty trick in the book to woo powerful CEOs and close huge deals. In the board rooms, barrooms and bedrooms of the power elite, corruption is business as usual and everyone’s out for themselves first. Nothing is sacred in this scathing, irreverent satire of corporate America today. Outrageous, subversive and wildly funny, HOUSE OF LIES stars Academy Award® nominee Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell.
