It may have taken a few extra months, but Mega Man Legacy Collection has finally arrived for the Nintendo 3DS.
ReleasingĀ on both the Nintendo E-Shop and retail shelves, the 3DS version of the Digital Eclipse-developed collection comes with a few extra goodies not found in the previous release. The most substantial addition comes from the eleven new remix challenges added to the rapid fire Challenge Mode. However, these new challenges can only be unlocked through using the previously released Mega Man Amiibo, or the new gold Mega Man included with the Collector’s Edition of the title.
Besides the challenges, the handheld version of Mega Man Legacy Collection also comes with new pieces of franchise history in the Museum Mode. For a trip down memory lane, gamers can now take a glimpse at the original NES cart designs, as well as the magazine advertisements for the six games that were featured in retro magazines. For someone who owned the original titles, it’s definitely a nice nostalgia trip.
[zergpaid]While the basic version of the compilation is available digitally, those that choose to purchase the set in physical form have two options to pickĀ from. The standard version, which retails for $29.99, comes with the game, a soundtrack sampler with 18 tracks, four stickers and two Nintendo 3DS themes. The pricier Collector’s Edition comes with everything in the standard edition, as well as the aforementioned gold Amiibo and six postcards. The additional goods drive the cost of this version up, though, as it retails for $49.99.
I offered up my opinion on the 3DS version of the Legacy Collection over the weekend. If you’re too lazy to read that, though, all you really need to know is that it is a solid port of the set, but doesn’t quite run as smooth as the console/PC versions. If you’re a Mega Man fan, however, you’ll find plenty to enjoy.
