WayForward is currently working on expanding the reaches of its flagship franchise and, through this effort, has announced an exact release date for its Xbox One port of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. Said launch date isn’t far off, either, as the popular platformer will once again pit Shantae against her “Arr!” saying nemesis on March 16th.

After originally being released for Nintendo’s Wii U console and 3DS handheld back in late 2014, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse has since made its way to both Steam and Amazon Fire TV. A PlayStation 4 version is also in the works, although that port has not been given a release date.
Our very own John Fleury reviewed this title when it debuted, and called it a “clever, well-balanced and straight-up fun sidescrolling action-adventure game.” He also mentioned that it’s “the most fun and accessible entry thus far,” before awarding it four out of a possible five stars.
Needless to say, those who’ve been itching for a good old-school platformer should keep their sights set on WayForward and its current-gen ports of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. After all, it sounds like it may just be what the doctor ordered.
