Footage from the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda has leaked online ahead of its planned 2017 release date, but how representative of the final product is the snippet of game likely to be? The answer, as if you’d expect anything else, is simply – highly unlikely.
All of the footage was spotted in a developer’s showreel and subsequently posted on DailyMotion by All Games Delta, but – here’s the kicker – it’s roughly two years old, so whatever you see in the video above is likely to be more akin to a prototype for testing purposes rather than any indication of what the final game will look, play or sound like.
With that said, however, it does provide some potential hints as to new gameplay mechanics and which races from the original trilogy will be returning when we set off to explore a new galaxy next year. Footage appearing to be a test of a new jetpack feature can be seen, along with what appears to be a heated debate of some sort between a human character and a Krogan (sorry, it’s not Wrex).
Besides that, the rest of the clip is largely filled by lighting, explosion and particle effects, with naught but a glimpse at any potential new locations that players will be exploring. One thing’s for sure, though – this may be extremely early footage, but it still has that Mass Effect look.
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases in 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
