Esteemed singer-songwriter Elton John is circling a small role in Matthew Vaughn’s balls-to-the-wall action sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, though no details were shared regarding the specifics of John’s role at the time of writing. No stranger to the movie space, the decorated artist nabbed an Oscar for his performance of the main theme for Disney’s The Lion King, though his brief acting career has largely been limited to the voice booth.

Should the deal close, Elton John will be joining The Golden Circle alongside fellow series newcomers Halle Berry (Ginger) and Julianne Moore (Poppy), while news broke late last week that Game of Thrones fan-favorite Pedro Pascal had boarded Fox’s 2017 sequel.

Elsewhere on the casting docket, Mark Strong and Taron Egerton reprise their roles from the original sleeper hit, while the sequel’s first poster strongly hinted that a certain fallen ally will be back on the scene for Vaughn’s hotly-anticipated follow-up. Reports of Harry Hart’s death have been greatly exaggerated, it seems.

Penning the script alongside Jane Goldman, it’s understood that Vaughn is set to kick off principal photography in London over the coming weeks. Much like The Secret Service before it, Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be based on the Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons graphic novel.

Hoping to spark a similar box office success as its 2014 predecessor – The Secret Service soared to $415 million worldwide – Kingsman: The Golden Circle relocates Matthew Vaughn’s budding new franchise across the pond and into the US of A in time for June 16, 2017.
