A sneak peak at the upcoming Guild Wars 2 update for spring was unveiled online earlier today, as the release date for the new content was also revealed. The teaser presents some pretty dramatic conflict on the horizon, and what the footage lacks in exposition it certainly makes up for in style.
But while a Guild Wars 2 update would usually be preceded by a number of previews and posts at the official blog, this new content seems to have snuck in on a wave of silence. The decision was intentional, however, with ArenaNet president Mike O Brien confirming so in a post yesterday:
As we prep for release, you’ll notice that we’re not doing the series of advance blog posts that we had done for some prior releases. Hopefully that’s not too surprising; I’ve written a few times since taking this role that I think our job is to delight you with what we ship, not with talk and promises.
What is currently known is that the update is expected to attend to stability and skill balance, fixes or resetting of desert borderlands, rewards, population balance and scoring based on what ArenaNet have said about it thus far.
The spring update will be heading to Guild Wars 2 on April 19. We’ll bring you more on the content as it comes to us.
