Injustice: Gods Among Us Sequel Reportedly In The Works, E3 Announcement Likely

At least based on early reports, it's set to be a busy show for Warner Bros. Interactive, with plans to unveil not only a Game of the Year edition of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight - seemingly due to land in July for PS4 and Xbox One - but now a report by French outlet Gameblog.fr claims that a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us is also in the cards.

With little under two weeks to go until the main event, we’re deep into rumor territory as the four corners of the gaming industry brace themselves for E3 2016.

And at least based on early reports, it’s set to be a busy show for Warner Bros. Interactive, with plans to unveil not only a Game of the Year edition of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight – seemingly due to land in July for PS4 and Xbox One – but also a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, if a report by French outlet Gameblog.fr is to be believed.

First released in 2013, NetherRealm’s mascot brawler featured a who’s who of DC icons, and considering that Rocksteady is all but finished with the Caped Crusader for the time being, a direct sequel to Gods Among Us certainly makes a lot of sense as Warner looks to capitalize on its budding cinematic universe.

According to the report, Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 would be built using the same game engine as last year’s Mortal Kombat X – also developed by NetherRealm – aligning the yet-to-be-confirmed sequel for launch in March of 2017.
