Don’t bank your hopes on laying hands on The Elder Scrolls VI anytime soon, but the next installment in Bethesda’s prestigious RPG is coming – it’s just a “very long way off.

Before firing up production on the inevitable sequel though, the esteemed studio has plans in place for two as-yet-unannounced titles, according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard. Bouncing off that, VP of Public Relations Pete Hines has offered up but a tease of that embryonic duo, noting that both games boast a similar scale and scope to that of Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Per IGN:

“[Howard] said for sure that he’s got two other projects. I’m just making sure folks understand that doesn’t mean he’s going to spit out a DLC and another DLC and we’re head faking. I need folks to understand that we’re talking about big games like a Skyrim and a Fallout 4 and a Fallout 3 and those don’t just happen.”

Bethesda Softworks is currently focused on the upcoming wave of DLC for Fallout 4, while there’s also the small matter of rendering a VR version of the Commonwealth set for release in 2017. It’ll launch for HTC Vive. Elsewhere on the studio’s slate, Skyrim: Special Edition is primed to take flight on October 28 replete with all mainline expansions, enhanced graphics and the addition of console mods.
