Hollywood’s knack for ensemble festive comedies will continue unabated this year in the form of Almost Christmas, an ensemble dramedy that revolves around, you guessed it, a bickering family that is forced to set aside old differences while sharing the same roof during the holiday period.
No, it’s not the Griswolds; for David E. Talbert’s (Baggage Claim) festive feature will center on Danny Glover’s beloved patriarch “who asks his family for one gift this holiday season: to get along. If they can honor that wish and spend five days under the same roof without killing one another, it will be a Christmas miracle.”
Written and directed by Talbert, along with the producing support of Ride Along‘s Will Packer, Almost Christmas isn’t likely to herald any comedic revolutions anytime soon, but as a star-studded crowd-pleaser, it ought to do just fine come November. It features a cast led by Kimberly Elise, Danny Glover, John Michael Higgins, Romany Malco, Mo’Nique, JB Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Omar Epps, Nicole Ari Parker, Jessie T. Usher and DC Young Fly.
Taking full advantage of the holiday release window, Almost Christmas will revel in seasonal shenanigans when David E. Talbert’s comedy opens on November 11. In the meantime, a new poster introduces that all-star cast, who simply can’t contain their excitement to kick off the festive celebrations.
