Five weeks on from the release of Blood and Wine, billed as the second and final expansion for the adorned RPG, developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is coming.

News first emerged when German ratings board USK posted a listing of said GotY edition for release across PS4, Xbox One and PC in August. Bundling together both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions – not to mention the string of free DLC released for Wild Hunt – USK slated the comprehensive package for a late August launch.

Though he didn’t outright confirm that purported release date, Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz told Eurogamer that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is real, and fans should expect more details to arrive soon.

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was a gigantic effort for the entire studio, and both the team and me were amazed by the good reception of Geralt’s adventures. Since launch, we’ve released two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which added a lot of new adventures to the already potent mix.

“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition. I’m happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We’ll release more details, including the release date, in the future. In the meantime, I’d like to thank every fan of the game for their support – you’re really amazing!”

No official release date was given to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition, but those aforementioned retail listings did peg the premium edition for launch in late August. In news relating to the Northern Realms, CD Projekt Red is also on the verge of unveiling a full spinoff of the popular Gwent card game.
