Diplo Conveniently Collaborates With EDM’s Most Despised Duo

Leave it to Diplo to write DJs off as "not famous for any good reason" before turning around and cutting a track with none other than Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Dutch duo is arguably the most manufactured act in EDM for their well-documented use of ghostwriters like Maarten Voorwerk as well as their controversial means of securing last year's DJ Mag #1 title, but that apparently hasn't disqualified them as candidates for collaboration.

Leave it to Diplo to write DJs off as “not famous for any good reason” before turning around and cutting a track with none other than Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The Dutch duo are arguably the most manufactured act in EDM for their well-documented use of ghostwriters like Maarten Voorwerk and controversial means of securing last year’s DJ Mag #1 title – but that apparently hasn’t disqualified them as candidates for collaboration in the Mad Decent label head’s eyes.

During the duo’s performance at Ejekt Festival in Greece last weekend, they announced that their next track was a joint effort with “Diplo of Major Lazer.” The as-yet-unnamed ID bears the hallmarks of Diplo’s dancehall-tinged productions early on in the recording, with a main stage-ready bass drop picking up the pace before the end.

Then again, practically in the same breath as the aforementioned quote, Diplo remarked, “I’m sad that I’m part of it, but I play the game.” As such, he and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s collaboration shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

What does still remain to be seen is the track’s title and release date, so check back often as we’ll be sure to share that information with you as it surfaces.
