After finding success with the Sherlock Holmes movies, the disappointing box office performance of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. must have come as a surprise to both Warner Bros. and Guy Ritchie. However, the filmmaker is now looking to launch a very different sort of franchise with King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.
The first trailer was revealed at Comic-Con earlier today, and it definitely looks like Ritchie will be bringing his trademark style to the movie, which has been envisioned as being the first chapter in a series which could run for as many as six instalments as it delves into the classic story like never before.
In King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, when the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern, Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he’s forced to acknowledge his true legacy.
Along with Charlie Hunnam, the King Arthur: Legends of the Sword cast also includes Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Jude Law, Eric Bana and Djimon Honsou, and it’s currently set to be released on February 17th, 2017.
