The last year has seen The Chainsmokers achieving some pretty major milestones in their careers. Moving past the mainstage sound that defined their earlier material, the DJ duo have refined their style and unleashed a number of charting hits with efforts like “Roses” and “Don’t Let Me Down.” This week, they’ve debuted the first taste of their upcoming single “Closer” with pop vocalist Halsey.
“Closer” was premiered on Beat Paradise over the weekend in the form of a live recording that spans just over a minute in length. While the audio quality is pretty poor, it’s plenty to give us a good idea what to expect from the collaboration. Halsey’s vocals seem like a perfect match for The Chainsmoker’s production style, complete with catchy melodies, upbeat rhythms and radio ready future bass drops.
The audio sample of “Closer” is brief, but we already have a good feeling that the Halsey led single will be another chart topper for The Chainsmokers when it drops on July 29.
