Double Fight Money Event And Daily Targets Headed To Street Fighter V Next Month

Capcom's post-launch support for pedigree beat 'em up Street Fighter V continues this month as well as next with some much-needed features and quality of life improvements. Detailing the planned updates for the months ahead on their Unity blog, the studio's first port of call is improving upon the game's 'Rage Quitting' system, which sees players penalized for quitting matches prematurely.

Capcom’s post-launch support for pedigree beat ’em up Street Fighter V continues this month as well as next with some much-needed features and quality of life improvements. Detailing the planned updates for the months ahead on their Unity blog, the studio’s first port of call is improving upon the game’s ‘Rage Quitting’ system, which sees players penalized for quitting matches prematurely.

While the post states that the initial roll-out of the system resulted in a “rapid decrease in rage quitting players,” Capcom feels there’s room for improvement. After the August update goes live, those that still insist on leaving a match early will find themselves locked out of matchmaking for a set time, as well as losing League Points.

Rage Quitting Penalty

We are aware of the Rage Quitting issue, and this update will continue our efforts toward resolving it. We will make a second update to the existing Rage Quitting system with stricter guidelines for players who disconnect before the match is over. Players who are penalized will lose League Points and be locked out of online matching for a set time. The update will be implemented after the maintenance on 8/16.

Since the initial Rage Quitting system rollout, we have seen a rapid decrease in rage quitting players, and we believe that this new update will reduce that number even further. That being said, we’re still working on implementing a new, more robust system that will address the issue more completely by early next year.

That’s all for this month, but September brings with it a raft of new features that gives players more ways to play. Along with a ‘VS CPU’ option, Capcom plans to introduce Daily Targets which, when completed, award Fight Money which can be spent on new costumes, stages and characters.

Speaking of Fight Money, a special event being held from September 2-4 will award double amounts of the currency in Ranked Matches.

Strangely, no mention is made of DLC character Urien, who is the only post-release fighter for Street Fighter V‘s first season that remains unreleased. Capcom says there’s more news to come however, so we could still be seeing him arrive in September. Stay tuned for more.
