To commemorate Beauty and the Beast approaching its 25th anniversary, Disney is preparing a very special, and really rather enchanting Blu-ray release of the fairytale classic for later this month, not least because of the promise of an exclusive sneak peek at Bill Condon’s live-action rendition in motion.
Due to dance gracefully all the way into theatres early next year, a new featurette has surfaced online today, offering a behind-the-scenes look at a table read of the script involving Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as Beauty and the Beast, respectively. At only 47 seconds in length, it’s difficult to gain a sense of the budding chemistry between those two leads, so perhaps it’s best to reserve judgement until the new footage surfaces online in due time.
Speaking of which, according to the video above, said trailer will come tethered to the Digital HD release of 1991’s Beauty of the Beast on September 6 – the 25th anniversary edition jumps to Blu-ray on September 18 – so keep your peepers peeled. In case you missed it, the House of Mouse recently teased the film’s rich aesthetic by unveiling Cogsworth and Lumiere.
That iconic duo will be played by Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor, respectively, who are part of an all-star cast that comprises Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts, along with Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kevin Kline and Audra McDonald.
Bill Condon’s live-action interpretation of Beauty of the Beast graces theaters on March 17, 2017. Expect the 25th Anniversary Edition of the 1991 original to hit Digital HD September 6, before landing on Blu-ray come September 18.
