Played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers – who was cut out of Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the team will apparently encounter her in the past.

Vixen is voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke in the animated CW Seed series, while the actress made her live-action debut as the hero during season four of Arrow. The reason we’re getting a new version in Legends of Tomorrow is because she’s committed to a new Showtime drama series, making it impossible for her to reprise the role in this spinoff.

Now, the amulet which gives Vixen her powers will be revealed as being a mystical African artefact which is passed down from generation to generation. That gives the wearer the ability to utilize the powers of any creature from the animal kingdom, and Richardson-Sellers’ Amaya Jiwe will be the grandmother of the Vixen we’ve already met.

Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW on October 13th, though it currently remains to be seen when this version of Vixen will first appear. Be sure to stay tuned for updates though as we get closer to the show’s premiere.
