Green Day Unveil New Revolution Radio Track “Still Breathing”

Green Day showed off their aggression early on with Revolution Radio, deciding to drop the full speed punk songs “Bang Bang” and title track, “Revolution Radio,” to present to everybody what the record is all about. They’re revealing another side of the upcoming full-length, out October 7th, today with the debut of “Still Breathing,” and it’s the strongest outing yet.

“Still Breathing” takes a route that is classified as more pop than punk, with verses with vocal melodies that basically double as ear candy. The chorus picks up the pace, but it’s far from the intensity we’ve seen previously. “Still Breathing” is Green Day’s unapologetic cry to make an impact in the mainstream pop world, because although “Bang Bang” is finding success on the rock charts, this sugary number is begging for inclusion on the Top 40. It’s a style that suits Green Day best, and though there’s no word on whether “Still Breathing” is going to be a future single or just simply a promo track, it’s a good option if the band decides that they want to try their hand at pop radio again.

Although Green Day is probably pumped that this new song is released, they aren’t feeling as well as they could be. The band was expected to kick off their headlining fall U.S. tour this week, but had to cancel the opening dates due to illness within the band and crew. Their tour, which just might feature “Still Breathing” in its setlist, will now begin on September 26th in Columbus, Ohio.
