UPDATE: This song has been removed at the request of the record label.
DNCE is bringing the funk to a radio station near you soon. The pop rock band just announced the details for their upcoming debut full-length, but they’re also gearing up to push the album’s lead single, “Body Moves,” which is now out.
“Body Moves” takes influence from most songs off of last year’s EP, SWAAY, but this track is much more blatant than previous singles like “Cake By The Ocean” or “Toothbrush.” Instead of being uniquely catchy like “Cake,” for example, “Body Moves” sounds like it has been heard before. It could even be mistaken for a Maroon 5 cover. But that’s not a bad thing – DNCE ultimately nails the radio-ready jam, and while the song is a solid lead single, you have to wonder if there will be anything on the upcoming record that expresses their creativity just a bit more.
Judging from live tracks performed by DNCE thus far, it sounds like there’s a lot to be excited for: “Good Day” has a laid-back breezy pop feel to it, and “Jinx” shows off the band’s best kazoo skills. While we wait to hear what else comes next, you should be on the lookout for the music video for “Body Moves,” which was shot just a few days ago.
DNCE’s debut self-titled album will be released on November 18th via Republic Records.
