After collaborating with Swedish duo Icona Pop over the summer with their single “Weekend,” Louis The Child are back with a new single titled “Fire.” Teaming up with up and comer Evalyn who handles the vocal duties on the new single, the Chicago based duo craft a smooth production with a pop friendly sheen.
“Fire” opens quietly, introducing the song’s lead synth melody before rolling toms and punchy snares carve out a head nodding rhythm. Evalyn’s voice joins the mix, offering up a heartfelt narrative while providing a solid melodic foundation. Her singing cuts out during the drops, as Louis The Child work in stumbling chord flutters and trap style beats alongside the same ear worm melody that was used to open the tune. The production duo opt to keep things short and sweet, repeating through another verse and drop before bringing the song to a close at the three and a half minute mark.
All “it’s lit” wordplay aside, “Fire” ranks as a strong offering from Louis The Child with its blend of R&B tinged pop hooks and in-vogue future bass drops. The new single is available now via Ultra Records and can be purchased here.
