Lady Gaga is premiering new music from her upcoming album, Joanne, live as part of a short dive bar tour. Last night at the first stop, she performed a couple of Joanne cuts, including “A-Yo,” “Sinner’s Prayer,” “Million Reasons,” and the lead single, “Perfect Illusion.” The intimate setting provided a solid look into what to expect from the new record, but with the premiere of the studio version of “Million Reasons,” Gaga is giving everybody a chance to get comfortable memorizing the lyrics before the next show.
“Million Reasons” is the complete opposite of “Perfect Illusion,” with Gaga trading big production for a stripped down vibe that focuses more on the purity of her voice. It’s a beautifully sweet acoustic guitar-piano hybrid that builds into something much bigger. After the slight disappointment from the initial release of “Perfect Illusion,” “Million Reasons” rights the ship effortlessly, and Gaga’s vision of Joanne finally takes shape. The live version of the track is even better, with co-writer, Hillary Lindsey, taking the stage alongside Gaga to provide harmonies in the background.
If you missed out on the live stream for the first go around, be sure to catch the next date on October 20th, before Lady Gaga releases her new album, Joanne, in full on October 21st.
