Tove Lo’s new song may be titled “True Disaster,” but the song itself is anything but. Yet another instant grat track from her upcoming album, Lady Wood – out in just a few weeks – “True Disaster” is more proof of a promising effort from the Swedish pop star.
“True Disaster” is chilled out pop served up on a silver platter, and Lo’s hunger for creating music that goes against the grain is evident. The track is chock full of high quality production with an ethereal chorus that could find its place nicely on radio. Then again, that seems to be the pattern with most of what we’ve heard from Lady Wood – songs that are built to last in a mass setting. Though it isn’t as infectious as, say, “Influence” featuring Wiz Khalifa, “True Disaster” has the potential to be a fan favorite, especially if the singer starts playing it live.
Tove Lo’s album, Lady Wood, comes out at an essential time, considering female pop is currently dominating the world. If you’re buying one album this fall, you’ve got a huge catalog to choose from, with records from Daya, JoJo, Lady Gaga and more. Tove Lo’s Lady Wood might just turn out to be the leader of the pack though.
