Hitman developer IO Interactive has confirmed that a second season for the stealth title is currently in development during this year’s Paris Games Week. Speaking to French website Gamergen, the studio revealed the first handful of details for what players can expect to see when Agent 47 returns, including that popular features like Elusive Targets and Escalation Missions that were introduced with the first season will be making a return.
The interview, which has been helpfully translated by the folks over on NeoGAF (via Trusted Reviews), doesn’t go into specifics over release date or story, but we have been given a general idea of what to expect when it – presumably – kicks off next year.
Let’s start with the obvious. Season 2 will continue the episodic structure started with Hitman‘s first season and will utilize the same launcher in order to keep all unlocks and save data contained in a single place, all of which will be useable in season 2 and onwards. Good news for those of you who dedicated time to unlocking the special Agent 47 costumes obtained from time-limited Elusive Targets. In addition, IO states that, alongside new missions and locations for Season 2, it plans to introduce additional missions to the base game as well as possibly add new locales to existing maps.
The final episode of Hitman‘s first season – Hokkaido – released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC last week. A retail version of the title, which includes all season 1 content, is due to release on January 31st, 2017.
