Microsoft and Mojang have big things in store for the console versions of Minecraft heading into December, including the introduction of a new item that enables players to soar through the pixelated skies of its world.
Touted as being the “biggest Minecraft update of the year” over on Xbox Wire, the so-called Holiday Update will introduce “new mobs, blocks and status effects, in addition to UI, game and tutorial updates,” to the base game, including the new Elytra item, which “enables players to glide through the air!”
To get hold of your very own flight-enabling device, you’ll need to venture into the inhospitable dimension known only as The End, which itself is being updated to feature “End Cities, End Ships and all the Chorus Plants, Flowers and Purpur you can handle.”
Other new features, including new potion recipes and status effects (Levitation and Luck) round out the rest of the known components of the bumper update, although the blog post promises that the above is just a sneak peek of what’s to come.
Minecraft‘s Holiday Update is just the last in a long line of improvements made to the Console Edition this year, with the most recent batch of content having added various new character skins and items themed around Chinese mythology.
Further details on the update will likely be revealed next month, before it launches at the end of December. Until then, tell us, what are you most looking forward to when it comes to the new features that the game will be introducing? Sound off below and let us know!
