Confirmation comes hand-in-hand with a new international trailer for Rogue One, although if you’ve kept pace with Disney’s marketing spiel from the get-go, many of the shots included above will be all too familiar. If it’s new footage you’re after, the Mouse House did unveil a brief new clip for the upcoming spinoff, which you can find below.

As for those international release plans for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the effect of releasing the movie in China so soon after its domestic bow is two-fold: first, it ensures those overseas won’t be left waiting too long for Rogue One to light up local theaters, but perhaps more importantly for Hollywood suits, a worldwide release will lend more momentum to the film’s box office haul.

As the second biggest movie market on the planet, the importance of China can’t be overstated, and Donnie Yen (Chirrut Îmwe) and Jiang Wen (Baze Malbus) will no doubt be big pulls in the Chinese film market. They’re set to have fairly meaty roles, too, which ought to negate claims that Disney initially cast the actors simply to broaden Rogue One‘s global reach.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will touch down for those in North America on December 16, before releasing in China on January 6, 2017.
